Posted - 25/07/2013 : 22:49:30 So - it looks like we're having a new addition to the snakey family...
About year and a half ago, my hubby's young nephew got his first corn snake - a baby CB 11 Carolina ( I might have been encouraging him a bit ). He was allowed to get it, under one condition - that if he doesn't want the snake any more, I'll take him on...
With one thing and another, and also after getting bitten, my nephew doesn't want the snake any more... so the snakey is coming to live with us With a hindsight, I should have "encouraged" him to get the little amel stripe I really liked in that shop... - but anyway, snakey is a lovely normal het amel, anery, pos het hypo. His dad was a snow, mum very light normal, possibly hypo.
I'm picking him up next weekend - the only problem will be quarantine. We are having a major building work done ( heating and water ), which means ripping out every single room except for our bedroom. My two snakeys are going to be in our bedroom, but so will have to be the new one. As he comes from a known home, and is the only reptile there, is healthy, and I know all his history since he was bought, I'm hoping it would be ok to have him in the same room, as my two...
I don't want to delay the re home any more, as my in laws had already waited for us to have our holiday, and due to change in circumstances haven't got that much time to look after him ( and also hubby might change his mind ). I might try to find a home for him in the future, but, for now ( or if I can't find a home ), he'll be staying with us
So, watch this space in 10 days time

Oh mj, stop tempting me with the splendid looking stripey Sherbie .... wish I could. Maybe one day, if hubby gives in.
Welll,Stripey splendid snakey's quite safe here ...until you've worked your womanly wiles on dearest hubby In fact I nearly always have a few for rehoming-the locals have twigged that we have snakey's and have now become a sort of 'halfway house for Herps' Maybe I need to post on the rehome bit |

OMG, mj, you just made me feel awfully quilty! Though, in my defense, I sincerely believed at the time that my nephew will be "bitten by the herp bug " and end up with a large collection himself
Sb, I was trying to hint that the little amel was reeaaaly nice, but didn't want to push my nephew into getting a snake he didn't like, as it was to be his own snakey. Also, we got him all the equipment, but he payed for the hatchie himself, and the amel was far more expensive... plus the one he chose was silly tame, straight from the egg, ideal starter.
Please don't feel guilty-so sorry I think you did a very responsible thing encouraging the little chap to develop an interest in Herps. AND giving them the 'safety net'of knowing that the snake can safely go to a VERY GOOD home If you still feel the need for a Splendid Stripey Snake:
Then say Hello to 'Sherbet' this is one of my 'inherited for rehoming'chaps-good at everything and easygoing too! Now you see how guilty I feel |

Posted - 26/07/2013 : 10:56:02 Razee congratulations on your new baby, your nephew was clearly "bitten" sadly by the snake not the bug still never mind at least he is staying in the family so he will still be able to see him and hopefully he will be able to build his confidence back up so that he will be able to handle him without worrying. |

Posted - 26/07/2013 : 07:07:03 Definitely wouldn't worry about quarantine there - I think you should consider that he's had a year and a half quarantine in a house with no other snakes already, can't beat that!!! Lol, fancy not convincing him to get the one you wanted :P |
