I offered Alaric his first feed on Sunday because he was out and trashing his viv for the second night in a row looking for food. I didn't get to see him eat but I'm just glad he ate it as it was his first fuzzy. he's just over a year old but had only been fed pinkies, the shop told me he was ready to move up a size so that's what they sold me. So I was a nervous reck not sure if he would take it and for the first 48 hours after. And he has passed the meal now so I'm really please and can chill a bit and let my nails grow back lol

He shed last night he waited till I'd gone to bed. It was a nice clean shed including eye caps and tail tip so I'm happy. Gonna offer him some food tonight fingers crossed he eats .

Sorry I'm a bit muppet read it too quick because I was at work and should of been working lol. Trying not to worry but if I hadn't found this forum first I would be thinking he's really sick. I managed to get some moss on the way home so I've made him a damp hide now it's just waiting it out and fingers crossed.

Yep, aswas said, shed next to worry over!
ScaryVonHayleystine Posted - 20/07/2013 : 20:12:06
damp kicthen towel is just fine and is a money saver to moss. i just prefer moss for the following reasons - more natural, i feel holds moistness better, i feel more comfortable for the snake as they can hide in it/burrow in it better than towel.

And try find something to make a damp hide with so it's there if he wants it. If I can't get sphagnum moss on the way home would damp kitchen do till I can get some tomorrow

Thanks for the advise. i might try spraying the warm end just because he's hiding under his heat mat and hasn't been using his hides and i just wanna try leave him be. I've only had him a week and a half and I don't wanna stress him out. But wanna try help him out so he has a good shed

For shedding there are a few things you can do. My personal routine as it is consists of dampening down sphagnum in the cold hide, spraying the warm side with water ever second day.
Some use damp paper towel, a water bowl in the hot side as well as cold. But everyone is different.

Pretty sure he's in blue he's been hiding under the top edge of his heat mat for day's. His eyes are a cloudy pink and his colours are really dull now and he's looking really sorry for himself. So I've put an egg cup of water on the warm side will this be ok?
ScaryVonHayleystine Posted - 18/07/2013 : 22:03:20
ooo maybe a shed is on the way. Fun fun!
BoJangles Posted - 18/07/2013 : 21:59:04
Yeah if i had any left lol but I'm not completely sure but his colours seem duller and he's been hiding more then he has been.
yalovit Posted - 18/07/2013 : 21:42:06
a shed now something else for you to chew your nails lol
ScaryVonHayleystine Posted - 18/07/2013 : 21:40:47
You can definitley relax now. Going by what you said he has done well :) I was just as scared when my baby moved up to fluffs! Never thought she'd be able to manage it. But some how those little heads stretch enough to munch down! hehe
BoJangles Posted - 18/07/2013 : 20:39:24
Yeah it is such a relief to get it out the way. He's looking bit sorry for himself today though. So I'm just gonna leave him be think he might be due a shed.
