How often do all your snakes go into shed together?

We have 6 corns here at the mo, in 3 separate rooms & all have gone blue within a day of each other...

I know lol. Mine are both fed on the same day.

I always get 3 or 4 (different species) in shed at the same time.Maybe its to do with feeding patterns.I feed all of mine over 2 or 3 days, never all on the same day.

See my two couldn't be more far apart... Though I'm sure it's partially because Cereus sheds so quickly and Sakana takes ages to shed. Sakana takes over two weeks to shed whereas Cereus sheds within a week from start to finish.
Sakana's Shed Cycle:
Day 1-5 - Start paling down in the body.
Day 6-12 - Eyes go blue.
Day 13-16 - Eye's normal, body normal.
Day 17 - Shed.

This is how I have chance to catch her as I always know what day she'll shed but not what time. Cereus varies. His table seems to be like this:
Day 1-3 - Start Paling down in the body.
Day 4-5 - Eyes go blue.
Day 6 - Go normal again.
Day 7 - Shed.

However sometimes the days vary and he sheds on day 6 instead of day 7 and sometimes even day 4-5 is his shed day. But neither go blue in sync with the other despite having bred this year XD
Though there is 2 years between them. Sakana is 7 years old and Cereus is 5 years old in October(02/10/08)

I can say that my uncles two snakes(Amel Corn - Red and Cali King - Burton) are in sync and often shed at the same time despite Red being 7 like Sakana(Clutch mates) and Burton only being about 3 years old.

My two syncronised to within a week of each other. They're different ages and used to be in different rooms but their patterns came together when they were put in the same room. Weird eh!

Yep mine do it as well! Ever since I brought my royal home in october, they both go into blue at the same time without fail, even though they are different species. It's really strange, in fact they are both blue right now! It even happened when Trevor had a bit of a growth spurt and shed twice within about a month, I thought to myself "Well there's no way that Cuthbert will follow now" but of course he did.

I agree about the survey!

Makes sense - shedding is controlled hormonally - snakes have got a very good sense of smell... I know that my two seem to shed quite closely - when one goes blue, the other often follows.

That's very interesting. It would be good to know if anybody has ever done a study of this.

I say lets do one, we need a survey!

My two have sync'd up the past two sheds, I think its a snake conspiracy lets go blue at the same time so we don't get handled then both sneak out while no ones looking and shed...
Moppet Posted - 18/06/2013 : 19:01:34
My CB12s used to be within a day of each other (all 4!). But now they're out of sync again and all over the place...

I wonder if it could be a pre breeding shed? They may be hopefull

Mine quite often shed in unison. I just put it down to them all feeding at the same time, all having the basically the same exercise and being around the same sort of age. I know their metabolic rates can differ and all that but it's normal for mine to shed within a few days of each other.
ozziesmum Posted - 18/06/2013 : 11:53:45
My 2 the last 3 sheds have been within 24 hours of each other, Rhubarb 1st then Custard.

Mine are getting there :) my three corns (1 CB11 and two CB12s) this time shed within about 9 days of each other :)

Lol, I was just reading a thread about this the other day elsewhere, and loads of people were saying their snakes are 'synchronised shedders', even across different species and ages! Ours aren't quite there yet - but they do seem to be close.
