Well, I just found out my not so Little T is most definitely a male and definitely an adult and... how would I put it nicely and politely...erm..err.. he just -well, what happen was:

I had Bazilishka out for a bit of handling, and then hubby wanted to hold her, so I thought I'll let him have Baz, and handle Little T instead.

Well, hubby held Baz, I held Little T, and they saw each other, when Bazilishka launched herself forward, almost leaping towards Little T. I thought she wanted to bite him, and went to pull away, but they started sniffing noses, and Hubby said she was twitching.

It was obvious what they wanted to do ( and I thought she was past it now, as she's eating and back to normal behaviour ), so I thought I'd better stop that right there, ( feeling totally evil ), then looked at my hands and... well, I first thought Little T had sneezed or peed on me, but no...he.......anyway, all you grown ups will know what I mean...

They saw each other for couple of seconds only, and only sniffed each others nose, before I stopped them, but that was enough for him! I took him to his viv, but he wouldn't let go of my hand ( which obviously smelled of Bazil ), had to unroll him of me in the end. Bazil went back to her viv no probs, but poor Little T. is now patrolling his viv, looking for her ( or possibly for my hand, can't be sure ).

I'm now torn between the guilt of stupidly letting them see each other ( never though things could start happening that fast, even if they did ), being grossed out, but also can't help laughing...arhg!

I did wonder what the 18+ bit was about & had to have a read haha! Sounds like they could do with some "alone" time :-)

forgot to say - I'm sure Apollo will work it out ( mind you, I don't know if Little T would work it out, he certainly chose the wrong species for his first time ) :-)

& Lozzy: You had Barry Manilow, I re- read this thread again, eating porridge... bad idea!

& Heriotfan: No tissues, as they were both empty, so not expected any poops.

& Moppet: I know, and that's without taking a possible double clutching into consideration. My local pet shop said they'd have the babbies, and I'd be happy for them to go there, though I'd prefer to try to sell them here first , at least I' "know" the people they were going to. Anyway, I still haven't done it yet...

Teehee, sorry. It's a tough decision to make either way. I think I read somewhere that female corns tend to have slightly smaller clutches the first time too, but it depends on their genetics and their size as to how 'small' a small clutch for them is. However during my research and planning I was made quite aware that it is possible (maybe even likely) that I would be caring for the hatchlings for several months whilst waiting for them to sell or find good new homes.

Quite a responsibility but I've decided to give Apollo and Kali the option to breed this year and have already put them together once. Apollo was very interested and Kali wasn't exactly uninterested but I think it will take Apollo a couple of attempts to figure out exactly what goes where.

Stop it stop it stop it, Moppet! :-) I made the hard decision not to, this year - and yesterday event got me thinking again ( seeing how desperate they were and ready ), and calculating timings... got a busy March, but I'm only really away for one weekend... we're going away later in summer,...my friend's got a incubator I could ask to borrow, but she'll be using it next year... Twiddler's fairly young, so hopefully they wouldn't have too many eggs....Bazil's only 2 and a half, but she's 3 and a half foot... I'm breaking my horse in this year - but I'll only do that, and then turn him away again to mature, whilst next year, he'll need more regular work, and riding on....aaarrgh!

Um. Eeeeeew. Well I guess he would be erm 'mature' enough to do the deed then if you wanted to breed them this year. haha
