I went to check on her last night and there was a perfect shed lying there

I thought she was about to go into blue, she'd been looking dull but her eyes didn't look any different. She obviously already was but her behaviour didn't change at all. She has got to be the most perfect snake for a first timer ever (very proud mummy moment)

It's 50 cm long so how long would that make her roughly? I haven't worked out how to measure a moving, or curled up in a knot, snake accurately

Glad the shed went well I do the same as coxymk2. Last time I 'measured' Apollo was when he decided to helpfully slither around the edges of my laptop. Took a measurement of the bit that was between his head and tail at the time and voila. I will be using that measuring website with my little ones when I have time to grab a suitable picture as it's a bit more accurate

I have kept each snakes' first shed with me though, so I can look back in the future comparing bigger sheds and remember how tiny they were

So pleased her shed went well. Now you have a bright, fresh looking girl.

We sometimes find snake skins when we're out looking for grass snakes (preservation project). In that case, we generally take about 2/3 of the length of the skin to determine the size of the snake. It's FAR from accurate as the snake has way more skin than it's actual size (all the skin in between the scales and such) but it gives you a rough idea :)

Congrats on the shed. Can't use the shed for measuring length of snakey due to stretching. I tend to use something that is easy to measure and wait for the snake to lay beside it fairly straight to give me an idea
