I have just put of ceramic heating kit but I have a query regarding the cable. The ceramic fitting does not have an earth which from what I have read is normal. However the cable that came with it is 3 core. So can I just wire up the ceramic using the live and neutral and just leave the eart short in the casing and not strip that wire?

If the lamp holder has a sign with a square inside another square it doesnt need it however i would use a ring crimp on a screw just so that the guard is protected. On my lamp holder there is a earth connect its a funny sign. If u dont want the earth there at all go to a wholers and ask for 2 core flex and ur problem will be solved

The kit I am using is not sold in online shops. I have bought it from a guy on RFUK. If you are a member search for reptiles-ink. He does all sorts, LED lights, various guards including custom sizes, stats etc. All excellent quality.

Sorry if I am in the wrong for posting about another member from another forum

The earth should be connected to any metal lampshades etc.. in case the heater element ever breaks and shorts out. This will send the electric to earth and help avoiding getting a shock from it.
