Once upon a time there was snake. He got lost. Then he came back. And he lived happily ever after.

It's another forum, large, but generally not as nice. you'll get lots of topics like " my burm is bigger than yours ".

If you want decent, friendly and helpful reply to your questions, stick around here :-). Everybody LIKES corn snakes here.

What's "The Dark Side"?

It's another site where ppl talk about corn snakes.. not very a friendly place..

My cats found Monster when he got out.. fortunately he was up where they couldn't get their paws on him. When I noticed Usagi peering between the slats on the rad I lifted the cover and there Monster was..

What's "The Dark Side"?

I hope this helps a bit - I read on the " Dark side " about corn snakes appearing after a year! And not just once... Perhaps it's better that it's cold, their metabolism will be slow, so they can survive much longer without food, and you can bet they will find water.
Re heat - computers get quite warm, ovens, Tv's - anything electrical...look around there. Watch your cats - they might see him, even if you don't. Keep your chin up.

Can someone reassure me that Bob has a chance of being alive? The room where he went under the floorboards had water in it, but it was 3 days AFTER he escaped that we finally moved the cats out of there (it was their bedroom). Would he have been too afraid to come up from underneath the floorboards with "predators" around? Or could he have snuck out. The hole he went down was right by the door and there's a massive gap underneath so he could have left the room.

Could he have lasted for 3 days without having a drink? He's only a baby. We put out water, heat, hides and flour on that 3rd day but no sign.

What concerns me is we have very little heat in our house. No heating on in the bedrooms. Bathroom is downstairs at the back of the house and is cold. No tumble dryer. I literally don't know where to look.

Thanks Mort :)

WW, i've got hides all around, water bowls with flour around them (so i'd see a trai|) and put out a pinkie or two around the house every week, just in case! if a pinkie was ever taken, i'd put down a bottle trap the next few times! Lol at in the hifi speaker!

I'm liking this thread it cheers me up :)

I had Loki disappear. He did a poo on the lounge carpet to the right of his viv,but was found nestled in a large bag of aspen on the left hand side. Thankfully my sister found him within 45 minutes of me noticing he'd gone, not sure how long he'd been wandering round my lounge though!

Hope you find Freddie soon, don't beat yourself up about his escape. They are crafty wee blighters.

i found my bella the first time in my motorbike jacket, which was hanging on the floor lol, then in a hifi speaker spying on me through the wire mesh. i found my normal hatchling which i have just bought 2 weeks ago slithering along my passage towards my bathroom. now bella is missing again which i just think she is on an adventure and have every faith in finding. she got out of the viv which i left open when i went to bed. your snake will turn up, have u left traps or anything? i have a spare viv open with a heat mat and hide so incase she wants to re appear she can. another thing i have done is left a few shoe boxs out with a small hole in the side which i check often. good luck

Found Saphira between the cushions on our couch once. Found the one who's now called Houdini under the scales in the bathroom. :)

One of my hatchlings from last year escaped his tub by pushing the lid off (EVERYONE has elastic bands round each end of the tubs if they're not in a RUB or clip lock box, now!!) was absolutely devastated, completely gave up hope of finding him as there were holes in the floor that appeared to lead to outside in the airing cupboard.
I left traps out and allsorts but to no avail, and then two weeks later I found him poking his little face out of the airvent at the bottom of the door to the airing cupboard, he was curled up inside having a great time! I named him Jimmy after that, as his number was 007 and he had his own little adventure for two weeks

Hah! Great accounts of all your returns Figs :D

My only corn escapee was also found pretty close by, in a cupboard on the other side of the room next to my PC, I suppose that provided some warmth.

My BRB did manage to go for a wander one day, because I left the screen mesh off one night (I know.. stupid!). I woke up in the morning and picked up my jumper and she was curled up inside the hood... I didn't even know she had got out!! I was looking at her thinking "That looks an awful lot like Jade... but she's in her *looks over to Viv*... OH!"

Bar one few-week-old hatchling, all of my lost snakes have returned to me - dont loose hope!
Asides for being a bit cold and thirsty, none were any worse for wear

Goonie was found in the garden(!!) by my trusty terrier
Mew was on the top shelf of the bookcase in the reptile room
Salem was in the incubator (empty at the time, except for him )
Dinger was on his way to the shower room
Felix was on the radiator in my brothers room
Rumpel the beauty snake was inside the drawer of my bedside table (it was a bit of a shock when i opened it!)
Moose the baby king was gone for about a month, then decided to come out to play with a bin bag one cleaning day
Snausage the baby sand boa was sneaking around behind some other vivs, poking his head out to watch me watching him
and Terrible Tex the bull snake was off terrorising small villages before finally returning to sit atop her own viv
