Posted - 08/06/2012 : 13:18:22 I am sure that these questions have been asked before but....I have been reading books, and doing Google searches and I seem to be getting different information.
My questions are:
We are in the process of setting up our first viv and I am trying to figure out where the heat mat should go and what to cover it with, all the instructions seem to contradict each other. We have B1 Thermostat also which I am told that the probe goes on the mat? Some info says to cover the mat with 5mm of substrate and I have also read that you can use paper towel? Also can you put a hide directly over the mat or only half over or not at all?
Sorry to ask so many questions and thank you in advance for any advice given |

Posted - 08/06/2012 : 15:51:53 heat matt wants to cover 1/3 to half your viv floor. have your stat prob and digital thermometer prob on the matt, i have mine attached together and stuck on to the matt so that snakie won't move the probs. if you are getting a hatchie i would recomend using paper towel at first so you can spot their poo easily. other sustrates want to be spread thinly over the matt so that the heat can still get through. hope that helps |

Posted - 08/06/2012 : 13:22:17 there are many different ways lol depends alot on what your viv is made of when i had a glass viv i put the mat under the viv in my new wooden one my only option is to put it inside with a bit more substrate on top i have however got some spare glass which i will sand down and place on top but its not overly important unless your corn likes to burrow alot
