or technically speaking its a type of lizard
a 'slow worm' apparently, and its not a snake because it can blink lol

regardless, thought i'd put up a pic of what my 4 year old niece found yesterday in the garden :)

we kept him in a box for a couple of hours to show my nephew when he got home from school,
he has been released back into the wild now :D

The 'weirdest' critter we've had in our garden (besides my mothers dog - but that's another story) was a centipede.. it wouldn't stay still long enough for me to count the legs though

we get lots of slow worms in our garden. our cats occasionally bring them in to play with too - evil cats!

Amazing, I love these little sausage lizards. I'd love to see one, not native here but never saw one when I lived in England either.

Same here and the one I had had babies
My mother came through and asked who'd left string on the carpet, I went and found about 5 baby slow worms in a notty tangle on the carpet!!

We eventually released them all into the wild

cool lil guy/gal isn't it!
such a strange tongue though, rather than being as forked as a snake it was sort of spork shaped lol
was nice enough to be handled for a short while too
