Tell me about it! Pippin & his brother Merry are roborovski hamsters so incredibly tiny! When I took Pippin to have it amputated I wasn't sure he would make it, but the vet was extremly confident!! He did make it, but sadly passed away about a month ago almost 9 months after the operation. Not really sure why as he was still under 2! Cost me about £80 for the op and a further £30 for antibiotics, but I'd do anything for any of my animals!

this is a first for me, all my other hammys have been easy and had no issues! so good news is he has had a wee in the night and another this morning, so am going to put off the vet visit for the time being and moniter him. will keep you all posted. thanks for all the advise

I've had hamsters and still got my little dude left. However I've never had one that didn't wee :( Glad he finally did a wee for you! I've had all types of problems with my hammies. Abscess over an eye and last year I had to take Pippin to have his leg removed after he started to chew it of (Not pleasant!) Perhaps just keep and eye on him :)

im glad he did a little wee xx
lupi lou Posted - 14/05/2012 : 22:08:08
well i got him out to flannel him and he'd had a little wee in his corner and he did a little bit more on the flannel. i had thought about putting him on some kitchen roll but he'll probably rip it up and use it as bedding! you can tell with the substrate he's got when he's wee'd, plus he's good in that he always uses the same corner.
Georgina Posted - 14/05/2012 : 21:54:26
maybe put him on kitchen roll so you can see if he does wee x
lupi lou Posted - 14/05/2012 : 21:40:29
will do, going to do that now, they offered to see him tonight but it would have cost £85 just for the call out! he's doesn't appear to be in too much discomfort so i said i'd leave it till tomorow.
Georgina Posted - 14/05/2012 : 21:36:45
they will probs give him some over priced injections, try the flannel thing first tho x
lupi lou Posted - 14/05/2012 : 21:33:30
i'm half expecting not to be brining him back, but like you said you never know!!
Georgina Posted - 14/05/2012 : 21:27:19
i doubt there is much they can do but you never know xx
lupi lou Posted - 14/05/2012 : 21:25:38
thanks i'll give that ago, think i'll take him to the vet tomorow just to get him checked out.
Georgina Posted - 14/05/2012 : 21:17:02
with baby rabbits that have lost their mothers, if you used a warm damp flannel and rubbed there downstairs parts with it and it would stimulate them to wee. might be worth shot. if not, vets im afraid.
lupi lou Posted - 14/05/2012 : 21:13:25
not too sure as he's a rescue, he's at least a year old as thats how long i've had him!
Georgina Posted - 14/05/2012 : 20:39:15
how old is he?
