Posted - 09/05/2012 : 14:51:55 My 17" x 11" mat is 12w your never gonna need bigger that a 100w. Your viv should never be in direct sunlight and your better off using led lights as they generate little heat. Your mat will never get too hot on a stat. |

Posted - 09/05/2012 : 14:48:17 No u will only need a 100 watt stat evn when powering a mat in a viv. A suitable size mat for a 3 ft viv will only be like 15 watt |

Posted - 09/05/2012 : 14:41:39 ok thanks! so i would only need a 300w when i upgrade to a larger tank? i havent got any lighting in the tank, he is placed where he can get natural sun light and i thought having a light in his tank aswell as the mat it would get to hot for him! |

Posted - 08/05/2012 : 21:45:52 300 watt mini stats are not for lighting, they are just for big matts ;) you would have a disco if you used on/off for lighting |

Posted - 08/05/2012 : 21:44:38 Lights should be on dimming stats |

Posted - 08/05/2012 : 21:43:32 i'd personaly go with the habistat, i have both microclimate and habistat one of my microclimate on/offs drops around 4.5c before it turns back on which is annoying and my habistats only drop around 2c and seem more reliable |

Posted - 08/05/2012 : 21:39:45 i have two micro climate mini stats , they do the job fine although you do get a 3-4 degree variance with them, the 300w is more for lighting than matts. |

Posted - 08/05/2012 : 21:28:55 Pulse are more expensive than on/off. On off do the job OK, pulse just do it with more control

Posted - 08/05/2012 : 18:40:09 i shall get a 100w one then, i didnt want to buy a 100w and then have to go out and buy a 300w just because i had got a bigger heat mat |

Posted - 08/05/2012 : 18:33:48 100w will be fine for one snake on a mat, probably enough for 3/4 heatmats! Your heatmat will have a wattage, most have them printed on. |
