hi all,

was looking at water bowls for 8 as the one i had planed on using has been 'put somewhere safe' and one seems to know where it is, anyway do you think something like this would work well as both a hide and a water bowl?

...and here it is in action - this is a 4.5' corn just settling in, he does eventually fit his whole body underneath.......

i use these (and others similar) from the pound shop:

its totally enclosed and I've never had problems with spillages, even with the biggest corns that hide under them :)

It's good for small ones kept on aspen though, they make a little tunnel under. I've used one for a year with my various sized corns and have never had a spillage, despite them always using it as a hide :)

My snakes would knock that bowl trying to get under it and then stay in the damp patch they are that stupid haha!

I'd be concerned about it getting lifted when the snakes under and water spilling. Nice idea though

that looks good did wonder if the one i'dvlooked at would be any good, i have got a nice ceramic one some where from when i had gerbils but i can't find it which is really annoying cos i know its somewhere in the house argh!

Or you can do what I did for Kryten. Glue his water dish on top of his hide xD
To be fair, he's so small his water 'dish' is the top from a Crusha Bottle, and I was sick of him pouring aspen in it!

However, for waterbowls/hides, these are good: http://www.thepetexpress.co.uk/?p=2_4&pid=11588
My local use them for the hatchies, which are kept on kitchen roll, and they have no issue with it tipping over when they go under. I also have one that has done the rounds, it's currently in with Cat, and on Aspen they've never had an issues getting under without spilling :)

im guessing thats getting knocked over constantly. unless you weight it down by putting a stone in the water bit. xxxx

It looks ok, but with 3 open sides would snakey not feel that it is totally secure in there?

Looks good. I like that it has a hide underneath
