Make the flat snake proof, and charge your landlord for it.

As a landlord myself, I can guarantee that this may work....

ive gotta go with sticking it back properly. its a rent flat so gotta keep it how it was if not better. so i will have to seal it with with silicone

It struck me that you have two possible courses of action here...

1. put the boxing back, but absolutely tight- no tiny gaps in any of the joins, so that it's now snake-proof

2. put it back but with temporary fixings so it can be easily taken up again, and deliberately leaving the gap that he got into. Apparently they tend to go to the same place if they escape more than once. So, IF he ever got out again, chances are that you'd find him in the same corner, if he can still get into it.

depends on what kind of gambler you are....
(glad you found him, btw- I hate that 'lost-snake' feeling in the pit of yr stomach...)
