I don't have alot of faith in these e-petitions but this is one I would like to see make a difference so please could you sign.
Currently assistance dogs are not classed as working dogs under VAT legislation. Food for working dogs is VAT exempt as they require a food that is much higher in protein to sustain them during a days work. This food is not suitable for assistance dogs so their food must have VAT paid on it. Since most charities that provide assistance dogs supply the food for the dogs, they would be able to save a large amount of money each year if the food was exempt, thus enabling them to have more funds to benefit more client/dog partnerships.
