Are Milk snakes really as shy and nervy as i've read? |

we have a adult one at work which is really jumpy and will hiss at you then you get it out and its just quick but soon tames down :) |

I think it depends on the snake and it's environment. If you are thinking of investing in one, get one that is quite young. That way it can get used to handling and the environemt you keep him in e.g a busy lounge. I think keeping snakes in a busy room helps to socialise them. I'm always in and out of the room my snakes are in, so they get used to the lights coming on/ me walking past/ radio etc. |

My milk was awesome, super friendly very active, great feeder and an all round gent but oh my days it smelt. I'm not talking a wiffy weekly poop, he stank ether house out all the time! |

I had a pueblan milk and hardly ever saw her. When i did see her and handled I was musked everytime. |

Might be a good idea and ask on thekingsnake.co.uk as it's the king and milk forum :p I've heard stuff about them being shy too but I can't comment as I don't have any! *wants a hondo*
If you want a snake that has the body shape of a milk but not shy and loves to be out, a king maybe better, if your nit fussed about colour that is. |

my hondurans are quite nervous and like to hide away (more so when they were younger) although they are seeming to spend quite a lot of time out in the open just lately :)
They still do their best to escape if I try to handle them (this *may* be down to the fact that they aren't handled regularly) but settle down nicely once they're in my hands. Youngsters will flick their tails around and spray musk (ewww!)
Despite this, they are a fantastic and beautiful species, and quite a bit stronger than the average corn.
As for other species of milks I can't comment because I've not had any. |
