I know several of you on here keep adult corns in RUBS for what ever reason. Could you please tell me what sizes you use for what size corn?
Thanks.

Well I've got them in a rack now so it's a tight fit getting them in and out, but before then I was using wingnuts on the four corners. The lids clip on reasonably well, but I just felt a lot more comfortable adding a bit more security. But it was a bit of a pain unscrewing 4 nuts every time I wanted to get in. Curtain hooks would have been a quicker option for that.

It doesn't have to be a genuine RUB. There are several different tubs about which are bigger than the usual 33/50/64 ltr RUBS internal measurments. Wham crystal, Whatmore Fusion have decent sizes.

I don't personally like the idea of rubs for adults, but as I'm into the teens for snakes now it's an option I might have to look at. Think a lot of it depends on how big they will get as an adult. The breeder I got my 3 babies from the other day says the parents were only about 4 ft long, so they're not likely to get that big I wouldn't think. And my crawl cay shouldn't get that big either hopefully.

The internal floorspace of a 33/50/64 litre rub is only about 3'2" length plus width, which is over a foot less than my vivexotic. I think with an instore price of about £36 for a 3' viv at SPS, I'll prolly just end up filling a spare room with vivs! lol

Aah,right I've been comparing to my 3 by 1.5 foot vivs.

So really its a case of RUBs are ok,but if you get a monster corn then you're gonna need a viv or the 145l RUB?
Sta~ple Posted - 14/09/2011 : 09:05:57
Not really. Min size is 3ftx1ft. Rubs are about 2.5ft long and like 15-18" wide so it is near enough the same amount of space.

Possible silly question here!
I've looked into possibly using RUBs in the future now my collection is growing. However the advice of an adult corn needing a 3 foot viv minimum goes against the sizes of RUBs as RUBs are smaller.

Its been confusing me for a while (doesn't take much lol)

same as above 33l and 50 :)
gingerpony Posted - 13/09/2011 : 17:38:58
yeah they seem to be......i do prefer the 50Ls but i don't think it makes much difference to the snakes
the plastic is translucent rather than perfectly clear but they get plenty of daylight and can see in and out

at the minute I have my yearling Romeo in a 64L rub... its more about height in that rub though.. Romeo seems to think hes a GTP and is forever climbing up high on the bamboo on it Thats pretty much gonna do him until hes an adult then he will go in a viv xx
