Posted - 12/08/2011 : 21:40:29 Soo, the heatmat Holly was on has crapped out. Not surprising really. Anyways, I've ordered a replacement and a separate thermostat for it (was sharing one, but I prefer them to be on separates).
Anyways, my only concern was that she was fed earlier today, and chances are the item won't turn up till tuesday. Will she be okay? The temperature in my room is pretty warm as it is, as I have the airing cupboard in here, and it wasn't a particularly large meal for her (weaner rat, didn't even touch the sides, was down in about half a minute!) |

So i guess room temps are pretty warm just now anyway. My livingroom is roasting just now *melts to a puddle* |

have they all fed today or could you swap a mat from one that hadn't been fed?
All fed today I'm afraid! They get all get fed every second friday. If she were around the same size as my other female, I would have bunked them up for the few days, but Psiren is 3ft and Holly is over 5!
Frankly, I'm not even sure Holly would benefit from a heatmat anyway, she spends literally all day digging and zooming about, even when fed! (I joke of course, I'd never have a corn without one xD) |

not alot u can do, whats temp now with out mat working?
Nothing, it's completely dead! Room temp is generally 24 - 25 degrees though, and is reading as such in the viv. And your right, there's not much I can do. I'm not too worried too be fair, Lister never uses the heated side of the viv when digesting, he refuses to leave his beloved coconut, and I've never had an issue. I'll just hope for the best, and set everything up as soon as it arrives! |
