I was wondering how old peoples corns snakes are. I wonder because all the care sheets i have read say they can live for 20yrs etc. But when i look around the forums i only see snakes as old as 4yrs old.

Is this simply because people with older snakes dont use the forum? Is it because people get bored of snake keeping after four years and pass them on?

I plan to keep my snake for as long as it lives, if that 20yrs then great! I dont plan on ever getting rid of it.

Thoughts?

I've created a spreadsheet for feeding and shedding records. And if possible im going to try find out the approx hatch date so i can keep a track of its age etc. That way IF (and i say if) i have to sell it i'll have all the records needed

Hey I have an old snake/middle aged! One of the is so darling... :3 he's so cute and snuggly and everyone loves him and gets a hug, he's 13 this year I think. The other one is still as flighty as when I first got her though! She's 11 this year.

My MBK is 5/6 now and I got him when he was like 4/5, at the time I wasn't compeltly sure I was making the right choice because of kings reputation and him being fully grown... so I wasn't sure if I would have been better off with a baby, I made the right choice though, he is so calm, calmer than my yearling corns, you wouldn't even know he was a king really!

I prefer older snakes in general, they are calmer and just generally nicer to handle. So sad to see so many ads though for older snakes.
