Posted - 29/06/2011 : 09:56:49 Some of you may already be aware, my O/H Kate is a vetinary haematologist at a local lab, and seeing as we have had some many parasite problems with the rabbits, they let her borrow a microscope!!
Soooooo, i did what any nosey person would do and looked at just anything i could find!!! Including a locusts eye, dust, skin all the fairly interesting stuff, and then i had a brain wave!
Here is the result of my brain wave and a camera not designed to look down a microscope, so please excuse the not so great pics!!
Mouth parts
Mouth parts at 100x mag, you can see the stabby mouth parts quite clearly
Here you can see the tiny hairs on it, they use these to trap air around themselves whilst under water
I popped it after this, and the view of the blood and stuff was amazing, i will have to get more pics though! |

sorry, i should have said, its a snake mite, one of many! I am actually sorely tempted to just keep and breed mites, they are great for beginners too, the are easy to breed, not fussy about temps, feed on anything with a pulse and a complete pain to kill!
Lmao!! If there was a Like button,I'd like this. Thats cracked me up!! |

Posted - 29/06/2011 : 17:26:32 Cool! I'd be like a woman possessed if I had a microscope at hand. Is that one of the parasites from the rabbits,or a snake mite? |
