Well I think that Keith and Frank are going to have to go on a diet of sorts. I weighed and measured them both last night.

15/06/11 weighed 146g (28") 15/06/11 weighed 139g (31")
I think they will both be moving down a mouse size to smalls lol. |

I really wouldn't worry about their weight until they are 3/4 years old. Anything that does seem like extra weight in my experience, they seem to then store and then have a major growth spurt ans use it all up. I'd only worry once they were near adult age. With the older and longer they get, their weight if put onto a graph would go up quiet steeply so I wouldn't worry. |

medusa was 32g and just short of 2ft. now she is 3.5ft and is around 340g :O only had just over a year she gonna be a monster! |

Yes I can definately see that with my two, Keith is visually alot bigger round than Frank. My son, who is 13, tells me that its just because he hasn't grown long enough for his weight yet, lol. I feel that they need to slow down with weight gain but obviously don't want to cause any harm to their natural growth. I guess a weigh in next month will tell if it is slowing, as long as they keep shedding every 4 weeks or so then I guess they will come to no harm. |

Its important to not get weighed down with the statistics. Every snake is different and grows at a different rate. You need to go by what your snake looks like. Yes taking measurements is helpfull, for making sure they are growing but its not meant to be like a marker to hit a certain weight by a certain age. Pushing them to be a certain weight is un healthy. Snakes are individual and different even when they are from the same batch

I was told that a corn aged 2-3 years would typically be around 250-300g mark, like yours are, and at that point stretch the feeding to once every 14 days. If my two continue to gain weight like they are at present they will be 200g + by the time they are 12-14 months

i try to extend the gap between feeds when moving up a food size to try and avoid them getting too big..
mine are all 22-24months old and apart from aura being just over 100gs the rest weigh between 200gs and 260gs and they are all feeding on small mice every 10days now mont and lucien will be moving to 2x small mice a feed soon but their feeding gap will go to every 10-14days, eventually they will stay at 1 medium/large every 14days |

I agree, if your worried about them growing too quickly I'd start by feeding every 10 days instead of weekly and see how that goes for a bit |

Yeah I have 3 around that age and 2 of them are still only around the 20g mark! The 3rd has just hit the 40's. They are all about to move up in food size though so hopefully will start to pile on the weight now... |

A weight gain of 36g and 38g is rather alot for just 3 weeks, too much I thought, but then I am new to this and still learning. I have not heard of anyone elses corns being this weight at this age you see. There are always posts with peoples corns of similar age weighing alot less. |

Weights look fine to me too, they are growing like mad at that age so the weight going up is them just getting bigger. |

still a healthy size mate, i would drop a mouse size my advice would be keep mouse size just extend period between feeds.
if you feed weekly then feed every 10 days :D |
