God I feel like a new mum all over again!
I had some stick insects that laid eggs a few months ago and the first one is hatching!!
Its so tiny and it seems like its struggling to get fully out of its egg so thats where my stressing comes in lol. I'm cheering the little girl on though.
Fingers crossed I'll have a whole new generation.

Lmao!! I can just picture that. Its the kind of thing I'd do!
Yeah,I got rid of loads of the stick insect eggs as we'd have been inundated. My kids have already got some pre bookings at their school lol. Thanks.

As I thought, the little one didn't make it.
The good news though is I came down this morning and found this.

Another hatched 5 minutes later. I'm well chuffed!

God knows how stressed I'd be if it was snakes hatching lol.

Lol,no offence taken. I've always been fascinated by bugs,I was always out collecting creepy crawlies as a child.
My kids have taken after me,and last year were given 3 stick insects each when we went the local pet shop. I still find them fascinating and surprisingly interesting even now.

I've never had any fighting Strawb. What type did you have?

I've had one hatch but I'm not sure its going to survive, its legs look a bit funny and I'm thinking all that struggling has deformed its legs. I thought it was dead earlier but it has moved since lol!

I've got stick insects and I just find them fascinating, as I do all animals. How evolution has worked to create something so well camouflaged.
If there is a down side to them it's that they have the rather nasty habit of biting each others legs off. No matter how much foliage you put in there for them to eat, they still seem to enjoy the odd fight. They breed like rabbits too.

i used to get them onto a branch and gently pull the egg casing away from them, and 99% of the time they'd grip the branch well enough to just be able to pull themselves free. I ended up with hundreds of these things, I couldn't keep up with the privet demand, had to start giving them away.

This little un has been struggling since this morning.
Her body is out but she has 2 legs still stuck.
Its like torture,I can't even help the little thing.
Worried she may be too dry to hatch.

I've been there, they do struggle out but the get there eventually, you might need to remove the egg case from their tails though.
