Only a saving of approx £15,970 going off the 3 rep=£200/year model.

Think that would more than cover an illness.

Looked into it, decided not worth it. £200+ for my reps.. not really worth it since they aren't prone to getting ill. Just figured Saving and putting money aside would be the best and with how pet insurances is now.. They will try and weedle out of anything :(

we have got a jar going now and are just putting abit in each week , i just wondered if any of u did get insurance . can any one recommend a reptile vet in the brum / halesowen area ?

Personally I don't have my snakes/other reps insured. I keep a fund of savings just for them.

i think the only company offering reptile insurance is Exotics Direct.......that's who PetPlan go through as well, but unless your collection is worth thousands i really don't think it's worth it, best off just putting some money aside for emergencies as suggested above

I have a big piggy bank that I save money with for any vets bills or other emergencies such as extra snakes!

Nope, I don't insure my reps, probably never will unless I start getting into seriously expensive stuff! Not really something that seems to be commonplace, especially with snakes and things.

www.exoticdirect.co.uk 0800 626012 They will give you a free quote. No idea what their premiums are like. Personally I keep a bank account for my vet: bills with the dogs. It works out much cheaper in the long run, unless you're really unlucky and have something serious that needs long term treatment or surgery.

no its not expensive at all, have you bothered to look into it? if not, id suggest enquiring before putting someone off getting pet insurance

i have pet insurance that covers everything for my three pets, and total i pay £200 a year!

so, YES get pet insurance, if your going to have more than one pet/reptile, and make sure that if you do, it pays the vet direct and imediatly, instead of you having to shell out first, and waiting weeks for the money back

get to the Post Office and open a savings account. Put a bit away a month and hope nothing goes wrong until you have a nest egg. Any insurer will screw you to the wall in premiums as its a specialist type of cover and the whole purpose is risk spreading over many people so many people would need this type of insurance before premiums started to get cheaper.
