Finally replaced Kayo today We are now the proud parents of a 14 wk old Amel with no name yet. He was doing a lot of face-rubbing in the tub on the way home, and about 15 miles after leaving the shop he started shedding! Took him all the way home to shed, nearly 90 miles, last inch after I put him and box inside his faun. He's hiding now and I'm at the other end of the house so that I don't get tempted to poke at him.

The next 7 days are going to be very long, but just really happy that we are snakey parents again. CR where we got the new and the old snake were very concerned about the old one and gave me this one for a really good discount. Chatted about Kayo and came to the conclusion that they couldn't think of anything we'd done wrong either, so slightly happier now.

I have photos of shedding snakey which I'll post as soon as I get them off my phone. Slightly blurry 'cause they were taken with my phone in the car when it was moving.

Happy happy me

Viv is slowly being resurrected. Just as well I stripped it out, the back of the mat was sticky and the black rubber had gone sludgy, so new mat now installed, properly this time and all stuck down with aquarium sealant, along with the trendy LED lighting that I bought before to replace the dodgy un-guarded un-statted bulb that the viv arrived with - eek. Don't worry, it was never even turned on apart from when I took photos, and even then I removed the bulb and unplugged it straight afterward just to be on the safe side. Left it all stabilising and I'll move snakey in once the frontline has dispersed, probably Thursday just to be on the safe side. Can't get the bulb-holder out 'cause it's put in with stupid square-head screws that I don't have a head for, but just chopped all the cables off.

I'm using kitchen roll as bedding until he settles in, that's what he was on in the shop. Easier to clean and I *know* that it wont be carrying mites! 2 chunks of bogwood and 3 plants bought already, wood in the oven for the next hour. Don't trust anything to be sterile, especially when it's in open bins at toddler level!

Aww congrate, glad you've decided to get another.
Sounds like this one is a strong confident little snake.....and a show off too!
I'm sure he'll do you proud and be in your lives for a very long time.

There'll be proper photos of him in a week. Can't wait! Even set an alarm on my phone already so that I know when I can handle him, just in case I forget

Congrats on your new addition. I saw the pics of him in the photo section, he is gorgeous (though I have to admit to being a little biased towards amels, lol).

Congratulations on the new snake.

Pics are in the pic section He's particularly gorgeous, not that I'm biased or anything! Also now I realise just how much Kayo didn't grow - he was 4 months old when he died, so about 4 weeks older than this one, and about 2/3 the size.

Congrats and you get to see a rare thing minutes after picking him/her up. Look forward to pics.
