Morning all,
Custard shed last night for the first time with me  now the down side I can't see the head, where she started rubbing to loosen it is completely mangled so I can't see if the head is there or not and as she's a snow I can't see if it is retained either. I only had a quick look this morning but when I get home tonight I will empty the viv to see if it is tucked away somewhere else but if I still can't track it down what do I look out for, I will measure the shed tonight as well and compare it to Rhubarbs which was 3'6" as they are very similar in size and weight. |

Hee hee it's a relief I can tell you Mort13 and yes jigsaw has been done and all bits found and bagged. :)
I don't know who said it was easy looking after corn snakes but I can tell you I've never had so many sleepless nights in all of my 58 years as what I have since taking in my 2 mind I wouldn't be without them, it seems to be one worry after another but I guess that's because I'm a total novice and it will get easier when I learn to relax and enjoy them more. |

Morning all, no still searching and my knees are killing me :( I had her out last night and certainly doesn't look like it's retained I even soaked the shed and carefully straightened out the shredded end to see just how much is missing, it measures 35 inches which is an inch shorter than Rhubarbs and I would estimate they are about the same size with Custard possibly a tad longer but definitely no head there so I think I will have to completely empty the viv and sift through all the aspen substrate, oh the joys of having snakes still on the bright side it gets me out of mundane chores around the house. :) |

im on my belly most of the time when searching for my snow corn lol, she sure does find some interesting hiding places lol

It happened to me once with Carmellia. I couldn't find her head anywhere. Everyone was laughing at me when I said it. I searched that faun 5 times and never found it. Eventually spotted it when I cleaned her out. It was such a relief |

Thanks both, guess what I'll be doing tonight - on my hands and knees searching a 3 foot viv with aspen bedding for a pair of eye caps. :) |

My king snake just shed and I could only find half the head bit. Luckily I could see one eyecap on it and I found the other eyecap in his rub although it was like looking for a contact lense!! Glad I use kitchen roll substrate not aspen lol |

You may well be able to see if it is retained as it will be flakey from when she was trying to shed, but the likely hood is that it has come off and has just snapped away from the rest of the shed during the process. |
