You don't need to feed corn snakes rats. They do perfectly fine on the various sizes of mouse available. A corn snake that eats rats is more likely to get fat and also if they take to rats and start rejecting mice you've a right job on your hands converting them back.

Stick to mouse sizes, something rat pup sized could be misunderstood.

Well done Tango, you must be well chuffed.
The feeding regime the shop has recommended seems a little too regular for a corn snake though.
It sounds like he's doing well with his feeds,I'd say try him with double pinkies every 7 days for a while. If he seems like he's doing well with them then move up to fuzzies.

would you say then tango should be on double pinkies as the guy at the shop said he feed him every sun and wed and was hardly any bump after i had fed him

Unless you have really really tiny hands I'd say from your pic he is probably ready for either double pinkies every 7 days or 1 fuzzy every 7 days. But as Gmac says give them a chance to digest and also give them chance to excercise, feeding so close togather gives them no time at all to be out and playing, climbing, exploring.

Best way to know what to feed him is look at the fattest, thickest part of the snake, the mousey should be about (but no bigger than) 1.5 times the thickness of that. What you feed should leave a noticeable lump once it reaches the stomach, if there is no lump, its too small.

Wouldnt feed any sooner than every 5 days, gives them time to digest.

at the moment our 2 hatchies are feeding every 4 days, Dodge on double pinks for the last 4 feeds glacier started on doubles at last feed, every 4 days is about the most often you should be feeding I believe.

is it normal for a 6 month old corn to eat twice a week?.... was told sundays and wednesdays feed him 1 pinkie each day.
