i know this is a silly question but are rat snakes and corn snakes the same thing, i have a bet with a pal of mine

yes, the simple answer is a corn snake is a ratsnake, so are the same thing, but, there are many many different sub species of ratsnakes, so thats where it can get confusing.

Corn snakes are a type of rat snake.

Only known as corn snakes because they were found near corn that attracted the rodents they eat.
