The Cyprus Grass Snake (Natrix natrix cypriaca) once thought to be extinct was rediscovered in 1992 is under serious threat of extintion due to development of its habitat and the collection of snakes.
An online petition has been set up at http://www.cypruspetitions.com/petition_details.php?petition_id=25 which will be presented to the Cypriot government by ‘Snake George’, biologist Hans-George Wiedl a conservationist whose speciality is reptiles, and the man that rediscovered this species.
