Well I got myself an Amel, and he seems to be settling in OK, his first feed is due today, but he doesn't seem to ever come out of his hide.
I don't know if thats just normal and how they settle themselves in or not?
Do you think it would be wise to wake him up, and take him away from the hide to feed, or just give him a couple of days or what?
Anyone got any advice/ideas? |

OK thanks a lot for the advice.
I was going to take him into a different tub so he didn't become viv defensive anyway, but I didn't know if it would be OK to sort of disturb him to feed, or at least see if he will take a pinkie.

It's quite normal for him to hide away a lot. Some snakes still hide even when they're adults and completely settled.
I always take mine out of their normal faun/viv to be fed for two reasons. 1) I don't want them to become viv defensive and 2) I don't want them eating any substrate by mistake with their mouse.
I put mine in a rub on a sheet of kitchen roll to feed.
It won't hurt to take him out of his hide to feed him.
After he's eaten just gently lift him back to his 'home' and leave him be for 48 hours to digest his food.
