Posted - 16/10/2010 : 21:18:53 Ok so, my dad called me a few weeks ago and told me he had been to the pub with his old friend from school, and that he has a couple of snakes and my dad had forgotten he had them. So dad says we should go and see him so I thought yeah that would be nice. I get there he has nearly 20 and he seems to know everything there is to know. I held some beautiful snakes and really feel so much more comfortable now. He has some corn hatchlings and a hoggie hatchling but the hoggie isnt feeding which is sad, he also has a pair of normal corns, a pair of blood pythons, 4 royals, a pair of green tree pythons, a pair of hoggies, some kind of king but Im not sure what kind, and two rescues, an anaconda and some kind of python of which Im not too sure but I completely fell in love with him, he is such a gentle giant at a massive 14ft he is heavy and strong but he really is so lovely. We ended up handling and talking for nearly 3 hours and I had such an incredible time. He said he will help me find what I am looking for and help with advice etc. It really was incredible to see so many snakes and to handle so many, I feel so much more confident about it all now and its made me want a snake so much more, esp the hoggies, they are so adorable and not as grumpy as I expected. It was really good. I feel so happy. xD Tiffany-x |

Posted - 17/10/2010 : 15:46:19 Id love one of each but Im only allowed one snake for now. :( I think providing I take good care of it etc (which I obv will!) I would probably be allowed another in the next year. Its just difficult to decide which for now. :/ Tiffany-x |

Posted - 17/10/2010 : 15:41:53 Yeah Tiff. It's not easy to decide when you really desperately want both! I'll put in a good word for the hoggie ;) My little fellow is 2 months old, just cleaned his viv today, and now he's to active. He climbs about on top of the plants (even though he's not very good at it xD). Looks so funny. He really have those thoughtful eyes, and is so alert that I can't even mist his viv without him coming out to look what's going on xD
Hoggies are also fun because they are active during the day...
Think there's no way around it: You just got to get one of each - one to look at for nighttime and one for daytime xD |

Posted - 17/10/2010 : 15:19:58 Hes amazing, he was the kinda person that was so passionate about it all, he truly adored every one of his snakes and could of probably just talked all day about them, and I know I definitely would of listened! :P I loved it, he was talking about his snakes and how he learns about them as they grow and how he knows just what all of them are like as far as handling, feeding, shedding and pooping goes. He puts so much time into his snakes and he even handles the huge 14ft python every single day to make sure he has a little exercise and it has made him so gentle. I seem to be in love with hoggies, I dont know what to do. :/ Tiffany-x |

Posted - 17/10/2010 : 14:36:31 Sounds like a great guy. I want to go there too. I'd like a hoggie too but I'm coming to the decision that I will wait til my corns are in 3ft vivs then I will have spare 2ft's for the hoggies. Hopefully I will have more room in the house too lol |

Posted - 17/10/2010 : 14:24:57 Yeah I cant wait, but now do I get a hoggie and a corn later or the other way around? :/ Im so confused. I want both! :'( Tiffany-x |

Posted - 17/10/2010 : 10:06:38 Seriously they are such beautiful little things, and when I say little compared to corns the males are tiny things. He had a fully grown male that was only just over 1ft. And they have these adorable little faces and big shiny eyes that look at you in the cutest way. Seriously Is have one today if I could. I completely fell in love with them. But its weird when my dad said he had a couple of snakes I thought oh just 2 or 3. He had shed loads and he breeds and he had the cutest little leopard geckos and some kind of lizard thing that he said cost a bomb and only a couple of people have them cause they are difficult to breed because females usually become egg bound and die which happened to his little girl so he has to wait until he can afford to get a female shipped over because they are difficult to find. He is obsessed with snakes, he told me the only reason he wont have more is because he doesnt want to not have enough time to spend with them all. He literally holds every snake every day and spends so much time building vivs etc to make his snakes happy. But to be honest I was definitely most blown away by the python. I had him sat on my shoulders and he just rested his head on his the part of his body that was over my shoulder and with his little tongue going. He is like the perfect snake, somehow he had such a personality. Its so strange. I'd love a snake like him its a shame he was so big. :( Tiffany-x |

Posted - 16/10/2010 : 21:51:28 Get both of course ;D My little guy eats every time I offer him, he doesn't even act up when teased a bit... but i think he's an unusual nice hoggie. I started with a corn snake, and still love her very much... they're just two different things, act, move and eat different. Both are lovely snakes :) |

Posted - 16/10/2010 : 21:46:09 Yeah, I mean to be honest the thing that put me off them is their bite, but then I was told today that they only bite for food so thats nothing to worry about because in intimidation they just get all huffy then play dead. They sometimes pretend to strike but will only headbutt. I didnt believe him so he showed me, he poked the male several times trying to tease him and he got so huffy I got quite scared but that was all, he struck and headbutted a couple of times and was like acting all scary but despite being wound up he didnt bite. So now I feel so tempted to get one, and get a corn at a later date. I know they can also be problem feeders but he said that his two are both his best feeders out of all of his snakes and if it did happen he would help me. Please help me make my decision, Id love a corn but hoggies are certainly my favourite as far as appearance goes and the two I met today both had the most fantastic personalities. Its so difficult to decide. :( Tiffany-x |

Posted - 16/10/2010 : 21:23:36 Wow that sound like the best day ever :D
I've got a hoggie, and he's the sweetest thing... So nosey and alert. He never minds me picking him up, and has never huffed at me or bitten me :) I love my baby hog xD They're so different from corns.
