So I've been going mental the past few weeks about being 19
I'm back at college with youthful 16 year olds, and It's making me bitter! They all seem to avoid me, and I think it's because I'm old.

To make it worse, I've got a very painful back after washing too many dogs yesturday at the groomers...so now I walk like a geriatric, and feel like one.

Someone tell me it's going to be okay!! lmao
best start shopping for motorised scooters...and sloggys...
I don't wanna be old!! *cry cry*

Anyone else terrified of getting old?!

+1

I study music at college as a mature student. I'm 29 and some of the other students are 18. I feel really old.

In fact one of our tutors is 33, so I've more in common with him than the other students.

I don't actually look 19, no one would guess I was that old if I didn't tell them
Maybe i'll tell everyone I'm 18, every birthday for as long as I can pull it off!
Hopefully I'll be a funky granny, then all will be well!

Thanks for keeping me sane with your wise words of wisdom everyone!! :')

I'm the same as you, didn't drink till I was 18, but did hit it hard when I went to Uni (turned 18 2 weeks before I went to Uni x.x Not a good combo!) but once I got that over and done with, hey, it was just a horrible substance that makes you feel awful next day. I now don't touch the stuff unless its in the company of people I really trust, and even then, I just prefer not to! The stories you can walk away with when sober are some much more fun.

I honestly say take each year as it comes. Don't say 'aww, gonna be 22 soon' or whatever. If you just take each birthday in your stride, what's to fear? Don't get me wrong, ageing and getting to that age where you start thinking '****, next step is death' is REALLY frightening to me - I honestly don't sleep some days for fears and worries. I just take me kalms and lie in wait of sleep, lol! Naw. Fearing ageing is a common fear and completely natural (trust me, I'm a psychology graduate!), and its nothing to be afraid of. At least you probably still look young. I'm 21, and yet a lot of my work mates think I'm mid-20's to 30's x.x I mean, not to say that those that are are fugly or anything, but bloody hell! I'm barely out of my teens! When I was 17, working at Pets At Home, I got chatted up by some of the lads who thought I was at least 23/24 x.x I have an ooooold soul, I guess, that makes my mannerisms and appearance older then I am.

i still dread next year saying "here comes 23" haha

I actually do feel old! not as in wringly old but as in grown up old! i left school and went straight into full time work a week after so i never did the college/uni thing. Iv always felt like i was more mature than ppl my age but this year has really hit me, its like bang right in the face "oo look ur 22 ur a grown up" and its actually quite scary!! its like all my friends around me have had babies and are married (but thats not me, id rather a house lol) and its like im the last one left! and relatives keep saying when r u n mike getting married.. having kids.. even my dad asked me when i was gna give him a grand kid last week i was like WOW WOW WOOOOOOOW hold up a minute!! honestly hun, enjoy being 19! id love to be 19 again! lol

I'm 34 (and a half) and have discovered that this is the age where youth has gone and aches and pains and general health fears are with me now and forever. To say I fell old today is an understatement. Doesn't help that my fiance is six years younger than me either.

*mumble grumble grouch*

I just turned 30 at the end of August, it was a sad sad day. However, a month before my mom turned 60 so I got all the old geezer jokes that I could while I was still 29

She always told me that 30 is your last cute decade, /cry

At least you say 19 going on 90, image how it must feel to be 90 going on 19!!!!
rachiepotatoe Posted - 14/10/2010 : 21:01:53
Hahaha feeling slightly better now!

Oh and Hillzi, I didn't even drink until I was 18! so, being 18 wasn't a massive 'YAY I CAN DRINK' it was 'oh lord, another year towards oldage!'

Just the thought that this is my last year as being a teenager! and I never really did any outrageous teenage things, so I guess i'm regretting that! I wasted my teenage years with my nose in books!

I guess I can wreak havok on the world in my 20's though mwuhahaha!
mikeyd_26 Posted - 14/10/2010 : 20:17:01
nah! look forward to your 20's lol loads better than been a teen - classed as an adult but still young, best of both worlds! :]
drchino Posted - 14/10/2010 : 20:04:45
I'm 26 now, I'd give anything to be 19 again already!!! Enjoy it!
