Oh blinking heck here we are just getting a handle on all this corn snake stuff and then looking after someone else's snake for 2 weeks and now he's 'in blue'! Of course I'm worried silly about getting something wrong (as ever). Florence has gone a bit quiet too so I'm holding my breath on her possibly shedding soon. Just off to find a paper bag to breathe into before the panic sets in....

HELLO! Got my pc back so I thought I'd let you know that Percy and Florence both shed on the same day with no problems. Thank you so much for your reassurances. They were banging on the glass to come out just afterwards; Percy has gone back to his own daddy now and Flo is as cute as ever.

I'm not sure if Rip was an active youngster, sometimes he's lively, mainly first thing in the morning when he wants to explore, but for the majority, he's docile and loving, and seems happy enough doing as he pleases! He's a bit fiesty when he's put down - ie. on the table when its time to measure him! But I guess all snakes have their own little personalities, and he just seems to be the docile one! I'm sure your Florence will calm down eventually, and will be a gentle, fun soul to have out and about ^^ Its just a matter of teaching them that this strange hand thing isn't going to go away, and they're just going to have to get used to being handled!!

oh wow Ripley sounds lovely! Florence (our own snake) is such a livewire she doesn't stay still for long. When she's out there's only one thing we can watch and that's her! She will lie in my lap for a few minutes being stroked then she's off again exploring. Percy, who is staying for a holiday is actually better behaved but as he doesn't really know us well he also wants to explore. I'll keep you posted on the shedding but my PC needs to be taken away to be mended so I'll be offline for about a week - if I need urgent help I'll get my son to contact forum and relay messages

To be honest, I've never noticed Ripley in blue until he's shed! His eyes don't go, and he doesn't SEEM duller, that is, until I see him afterward and then I'm like 'woah, that's a difference!' However, don't panic!

I've been holding Ripley when he's shed ON me x.x We were all sat on the sofa watching a film when Rippers pushed his head really hard against the sofa cover and then started to shed!! It was very exciting, and even afterward he was happy to settle down and continue to watch the film with me! He's a very VERY docile fella, so it doesn't surprise me. If your little one is still quite young, perhaps it is best to leave well along, but I've had no issue with Rip and he eats and comes looking for attention same as always, even when in blue!

thank you both - I'm sure he'll be fine and I'm also sure I'll be on here like shot if anything seems wrong!

Head out of paper bag now!!! You and the snake will be fine, don't panic. Just do the water and if the snake doesn't want you to handle him just leave him alone. Forget about feeding if snake is hiding away, it can wait until after it's shed. Won't be long before there's a new fresh looking snake peeping out at you!!!

lol just do everything as normal change the water everyday and he will be fine i leave mine alone when in shed as they cant see very well if at all so just go in and change the water and he will be fine i don't feed mine while in blue ether but that's a personal choice as I've read plenty people do and also handle them....hope this helps calm your panicking
