Posted - 22/09/2010 : 03:50:59 Hi
I know this is a cornsnake forum so I hope you don't mind me doing this post. My Hubby shouted me this morning to say that Ed, my lovely big Yellow Acara was lay dead in the bottom of the big tank.
Unfortunately Ed hasn't looked well for about a week, it looked like one of the other fish had had a go at him as he had some scales missing on his side, one eye was cloudy and there was a mark on his face. I'd been putting Melafix in the tank to help heal the wounds and yesterday he seemed to perk up and ate some food, so finding out he was dead today was a shock.
I'm gutted, I know he was only a fish but he was a lovely one, he loved being stroked lightly on his head, he was really friendly to other fish even though you wouldn't have thought so cos of his big size and he was the only fish we had ever named cos of his personality.
I've no idea how old he was but we've had this current tank two years and we had him before we got it and we had the previous tank a few years too plus he was an adult when we bought him, so at a rough guess I think he was about five years old, so not a bad age for a fish.
Here is a photo of him when he was in his old tank in July 2008:-

RIP Ed x |
