So my current heatmat is only 8x8
My new tank is 24x18 , so I needed a new mat, I just went to buy one but i THINK it's too big, its 17x11 so it covers half of the tank...do you think covering half is too much?
I'm so thick, in the shop I had in mind my tank was 36x18 -_-

So, do I take it back and get the 11x11 one?
or do I keep this one ?

Drchino, if you read this I think we have the same exo terra tank, what size heat mat do you use?

My tanks the larger 36" x 18" version, although I've got about 10 inches of it sectioned off while Izzy is still small. I think I've got about the same size mat as you too, I'm not at home to check but it sounds about right.

My current mat is perfect for the job so I expect it's perfect for you too. I'll prob have to move up a size when I get rid of the partition but I guess I've got a fair while before that happens... oh and on the plus side it'll mean that I'll have a spare faun, heat mat, mini cave and mini water bowl... new snakey time!

He hasnt been using it again haha, he's just been sleeping underneath it, and licking off water droplets from the side lmao.

Its an exo terra one, and it has sort of raised buttom with ledges so I cant really like move the mat beyond the tank.

hm, I think I shall just keep it, it's statted anyway so it should be fine I guess, and he does have a new mahoosive bowl he can jump in if he's hot !
I just feel so thick now haha

LOL - has he been using his new swimming pool again?

I reckon it ought to be fine if it's statted, and of course you're not thick, just careful. I feel a bit thick, actually, saying this, but with the tank you've got, will the tank sit on top of the mat? In that case, if you didn't like so much floor coverage, you could move the mat a bit to one side?

Hi, Rachie. In the setting up for a hatchling sticky on General keeping, Little Mick says heat mats need to be a third to half floor size of tank/viv. So yours sounds spot on!
