Bantam, obviously the meds from the vet's didn't work. We really thought she was going to get better as she was so darn feisty. Sad thing is that she has left her other bantam friend lonely..

Queenie a year after we got her, when we first got her she had hardly any feathers being an ex-battery and she had bald chest, underbelly and wings for ages. It just seems like as soon as she grows all the feathers back she died. She was boss chicken and loved to scratch at everything since she never got to do it for most of her life. She was perfect for being a boss with her giant headcreast and and the one spur. She would have maybe recovered if she hadn't been an ex-battery, it effectively shortens their life by 2 years.

Queenie and in the middle with her servants

Her enjoying a bath.

I really hope another girl doesn't die for a few years, 4 in 3 months is too much.

Awe, sorry to hear that Stapes. I'm sure they all had a lovely life with you though, you cared for them, that's all that matters!

They wasted away, their was nothing on them plus they had anti biotics so probably not very tasty. Plus as well they are considered too old really to eat, would be fine for dog or cat food though.

Good girl Stapey for thinking about it though.
It was the entire reason we kept ducks, was for foods.

RIP Girls. It is sooo sad but at least at the end they had a good life with someone who truely cared for their wellbeing

Oh, Sta~ple, brings back the happy days when I had an allotment and hens ... I loved those hens! So sorry to hear about Queenie and Bantam! They look to have had a good life with you though, and that's what matters. All the very best.
