You could try resting your hand inside his tank for a while, see if he comes and crawls over you. That's how I got my hatchling used to me. Goodluck! :)

Let him settle in for a week then just scoop him up into your hands. He may well try to get away but just hold him quite firmly, without being rough, and let him slither through your fingers. Just guide him with your hands and fingers. Make sure you support him so he feels secure and he'll soon begin to settle down. The more you do this the more confident you will both become in each others company. Before you know it you'll be an old hand at picking him up.

I know how you feel, my snake is not keen on me lifting him up, i have to wait till he comes to me. My other half can pick him up no probs. Have to admit i thought it was that he didnt like me but is usually fine once he finally comes out.

Hi, welcome to the forum.

Yes, it can be very normal for a new snake to want to be left alone - in fact the general rule is, don't attempt to handle for a week so you're doing the right thing in respecting his wishes ... he will soon settle in and regain his confidence. All the best!

Sorry i forgot to mention in my 1st post . That my sister lifted him yesterday with out any problems and i was maybe thinking it just doesnt want to take to me .. i tryed lifting him about half an hour ago and he went back in to his we cave ..

he will just be getting used to you, you need a bit of patience and perseverance. give it a bit of time and don't rush things with him.

Snakes generally don't enjoy being lifted and handled but do get use to it, in most instances.
