I think I need to get a bigger viv, as my sons corn snake is growing rapidly and can now stretch round almost 3 sides of the plastic tank thing.

Im getting a glass fronted viv, with sliding doors.

At present I have a hide one end with a heat mat under it. And the other end has a stone cave. It happily divides it time between the two.

Should I use the same set up in the new one? Im not sure whether I should have a heat lamp instead as its a bigger viv? If you had a lamp though do snakes bask? I want to get it right so help please!

sounds like it's ready for an upgrade

i'd stick to using a heatmat with the same thermostat you've got now and just scale up your current set-up eg. bigger hides but still at either side of the viv etc

I'd stick with what works for you and your snake. You can set up the same in a viv and if you want to add a few vines or whatever it's all extra places for the snake to explore.
I know some people use mats and others use lamps for heat. It doesn't really matter as long as you and your snake are happy with whichever method you use.
