How warm should a heater pad feel to us?(humans) just my corn snakes pad is quite warm but his temperature is fine(27-28c). The heater pad takes up 1/3 of the viv(3ft*1.5ft*1.5ft).

Your hands are not 37 degrees, your core temp is, my hands are about 26 to 28 on a warm day, and thats not cold! So yes, your heatmat should feel warm.
Try it, hold your thermometer probe for a minute.

the mat covering one third to one half of the floorspace is fine, where is the thermometer or its probe positioned? what does your thermometer read? and where is the thermostat probe?

im think that the heater pad maybe is too big, but it fills 1/3 of the viv, scar is never really on it for long, he lies on it for a few hours every other day. i can feel the heat through the wood of his viv, surly this aint normal...i may have to change it.

people temp is about 37*C so usually a heatmat running at 28-30 won't feel warm to touch unless, like kehhlyr said, you're pretty cold

Depends on how warm your hands are really.
if you have cold hands, it'll feel warm, if you have warm hands it might not feel like it's on.
