I know that acrylic and spray paints are ok to use but what about all paint like Dulux emulsion?

What if I used varnish after the emulsion or PVA glue?

Man all these different pains and ways of sealing is too confusing! Spray paint is way to expensive as well :/

Emulsion is water based so washes off fairly easily if they go into their water bowls for a soak. Generally a decent gloss paint will do it, if not then use superglue and crepe paper.
