Hi. I just joined, but I don't like how you need to display your age. I'm sorry, but that doesn't work for me so I just said I'm 188 which obviously isn't true.
Can a moderator or someone please deregister me?

I think the age part is important in some cases....as Kehhlyr says it helps you to frame a reply in a way that will be understood by whoever has asked the question. For example we recently had an 11yr old girl who was asking a lot of questions and by checking her age (and believing it....being the trusting soul I am  - I should have known better!) I was able to reply in a way that a child would understand.
To be honest I very rarely look at a person's age unless my radar picks up on something that they say - like in this case....so to me it isnt an issue and I dont fully understand why it would be to you. I am just sorry that it has made you feel like you have to deregister over this. Mike is right, this forum is a great place for support and advice and it would be a shame to leave it because of this. I hope there have been no other issues that are also making you think twice about staying with us?
Mods - just checked my age and I am a year younger that I am...yay!! It doesnt change as you dont have birth dates in, so of course will only show the age when the profile was made....unless people remember to update it, which they wouldnt.

As above, don't worry about the age thing, its not important anyway!
Just put your desired age in there if worst comes to worst!
This forum is a good source of info, be a shame to let something like that get in the way! |

The age is only displayed in your profile, nowhere else so only registered members can see it.
My age is listed as '007'.
However if you would like help with anything, then feel free to email me, my email address is in my profile.
The age thing is only because it helps the forum team and other members give an idea of your abilities as well, for example recommending to a 15 year old to replace a dimmer stat might not be as viable as for a 25 year old. |
