Posted - 06/06/2010 : 21:42:36 Hi My corn snake Sacha is about 4.5 ft long. She is currently feeding off one large mouse per week. A couple of weeks ago bit my husband before he had chance to get her mouse to her and I would describe her as a bit twitchy at the moment. By twitchy I mean that she is resless and looking like she is about to strike whenever she comes out, even when it's only 48 hrs since she's been fed.
Do you think it may be a good idea to feed her 2 medium mice instead of 1 large? Is she maybe a hungry girl? Thanks x |

Posted - 06/06/2010 : 22:11:31 nah he hadn't touched the mouse. I think the bite is only half the reason i think she may be hungry, the other half is because of her changed behaviour when opening the viv.
She is still a cutie tho and i would hate to think she is all hungry and miserable! |

Posted - 06/06/2010 : 22:08:15 When she bit him had he touched the mouse at all with his hands? The scent could have very easily been transferred if so, and she could have gone for him due to the smell, which is what snakes mainly rely on for hunting. |

Posted - 06/06/2010 : 22:04:34 Hi I don't know how much she weighs, she is about 4.5ft long and about 3" round in her widest bit. When she bit him he had just brought the dish with the mouse in from the kitchen and opened the lid, and when she hears the tupperware lid come off she gets all excited as she seems to link the sound with feeding so then when he opened the vivarium I think she just expected mouse!
When I next went to get her out 2 days later she went for me but didn't bite. She just acts like she is after food everytime the viv lid is opened, which she never used to do. She used to just come up to the top and climb out for cuddles, now she sways around looking like she is about to strike anything resembling food!
Does this help? |

Females tend to go off their food when gravid...
I wouldn't relate it with hunger as she won't relate your/your OH's hand with food.
how much does she weigh? |

Dunno what others think? 2 medium mice slightly less regularly may work too though. |
