I thought I'd start a post. Would be interesting to see the variation in peoples set-ups and creativity.

Also may help others and give them inspiration for their own set-ups.

Anyone got any pics of their vivs?

Just got to wait for my parcel tomorrow, 3d background, dual thermometers and stat. Then I can finally lay some substrate for the little guy and make his home more suitable

Got a six foot length of the bamboo and some manila rope from B & Q, cut it to size and tied it together. The bamboo was less than a tenner and I think 50 foot of rope was about £8

The first number means how many males, the second number is for females and the 3rd number is unsexed. So for example if you saw 2.3.1 corns it means you have 2 males, 3 females and 1 unknown sex.

They are stickers meant for a wheelie bin. Bought them for 1.00 in home bargains. Works out much cheaper than the ones they sell at pet shops.

how do you attach the ropes and fake plants?I haven't got ropes yet but think they look awesome so will add some.I have fake plants and use the sucker which comes with them but found they kept falling off.I then decided to use silicon to attach them but they still fell off after a few months leaving a nice circle of silicon on the back, which is a right pain to get off.guessing they came off as they didn't hold the weight of the snake... Any tips and tricks would be greatly received :)

Hi the leaves in my viv are just transfers. You just stick them on like stickers. Bought them in home bargains for 1.99 and are meant for wheelie bins. Easy to clean and gives a good effect.

With the rope I just put a screw through the ends and then push them into the holes on the side of the viv which are made to unscrew the top and sides off.

Hope this makes sense. Suckers are not very reliable, but I'm sure someone on here will be able to help you out more.

Think i may have to stral the rope idea as dont think the vie will support rubis weight for much longer (not fixed in place just balanced on the background for easy removal). where did you get the rope from? can you just use ordenary rope or does it need to be treated... TA

It's just normal rope. I used three pieces and braided them together to make one thick piece. Then put a nail in each end. Cost about £4.00 from bandq for 5 meters of it.

I did not treat the rope. But have had no problems.
Good luck really gives a good effect and George loves it

You can get the tree in Ikea, it will be in some kind of pot. The only problem is it won't stand up unless something is supporting it. I use the rope and the logs and wedge them in between.

I suppose you could keep it in the plant pot and it would work just fine. Good luck let me know how you get on

I've never seen him so active. He's loving the cool side up in the vines and flowers.

Although he's got plenty of other spots.

With the pooh question, that is going to be a challenge. I think I will just have to sniff my way around. He usually goes in the same spot, but will update you on that.

All the viv lighting is done with cold LED strips routed through a control box and can switch to either or both. Next to mod in a timer! <nerd>

Never say never. I know ikea sell a multi colour led kit but I think it's around 30.00 and for what It does IMO isn't worth it.

My next mission is building a custom viv for George to spend his adulthood in

Hello, you may have to contact 'Donnie' directly for a response. But I'm assuming that the vivarium you have asked about are 3 seperate vivarium a stacked on top of eachother. To me they look like the older viv exotic range and are 3FT. In most cases the locks don't come with them. You can get them on eBay or online reptile shops.
It's always a good idea to check the local reptile shop, if your in a rush.

If it is my vivs you are asking about kevwdc then Welshlamb is 100% correct . They are the lx36 vivs just stacked on each other and the locks were bought separately. I have changed them now for some custom made ones that match my 4x2x2's but it looks very similar.

I think it will be fine as long as they don't share same vivarium. I have corn (unknown sex) and cali king (female) in vivs next to eachother. Had no problems, as of yet.

You did so well making their old viv better than it was Andria . I can't wait to see what both vivs look like when you've finished with them. It might be a good idea to split the hides between each viv and also put some of the substrate from the old viv in the new one, so Albion has some of the old smells and will hopefully settle in better.

yh im gunna move the cardboard roll in corner into Albions. as Albion is always in it . so thought wud make him abit more comfortable. imdoing Robins too same time so .thought albion was the better candidate for the new viv since he smaller and he the 1 who likes to try escape thro that hole where light is , thats how he must have got burnt before at previous owners .

You've done it the right way round Andria, feeding them while they are still settled and then moving them once they can be handled. I would suggest, if you take longer than expected to get it ready, that you keep them together until after the next feed. Don't change them and then feed them the same day or even the next....they'll both need time to adjust.

I'm glad Albion has a tube that he prefers and can be moved with him. It is right that he goes in the new viv, because of the size....and his tendency to try to escape through that hole!

Don't worry, I know we need to keep the old man happy so will pass any commission on to him....can't be seen to be profiting personally .

It's absolutely perfect for her Redware , it's exactly what she needs. The general rule we go by for knowing when a snake needs to move to a bigger home is when their length equals the length plus width of the home they are in. I suspect Willow will be happy in her home for a bit longer .

All of mine have just been given new houses Worked on them most of the evening to give them nice areas to explore, and they were received very well!

This is little Hexus-Dave in his new RUB. It's a 9L and he'll be in here for a while. Because he's so small I've not given him much substrate. Instead he has a nice firm foam shelf, and on top two little tower houses with a shelf above for arboreal expeditions .

Bats is in a new 50L clip tub I got from Staples. You can have it so only one side of the lid opens which is great for putting them away safely. I'll be using these in the future when I need to buy new ones.
I made him a little cave/shelf out of some polystyrene that he gets to via his log, and you can see I wrote his (full) name in air holes lol.
He's hiding cos he's in blue, but he did have a little (blind) explore before he went back away.

Clementine is in the same size clip tub. She also has a polystyrene cave/shelf with a nice branch. She's been all OVER the place inside her tub It's great to see her out and about because she just never left her hide when she was in the 3ft viv.
She also has her name air hole'd on her lid

Little Nebula has moved up from the 9L RUB to an 18L RUB. She's got a little rock wall that leads up to a nice high shelf. It's resting on some mini white desk legs from IKEA (I need to sink some screws in to fix it properly). She's also been out and about climbing her leaves etc which is nice, cos she also hides away normally.

By the way, the black thing you can see under her water bowl is a weight plate. She actually has three in her viv totalling about 4kg so her RUB can't be moved easily by my cats. All the snake tubs have them (normally hidden under the water bowl), and because Dave's so small and his RUB is tiny, he has a big one hidden underneath his shelf.

Very happy with my new snakes' homes. Just got a spare thermostat and RUB waiting for a new Donny addition!

At the moment Rosie is in a 24" monkfield but I am starting to think about her final viv. One of the nice things about the monkfield is the glass panal underwhich you place the heatmat. I was wondering about replicating this in her main viv by modifying the base of the unit or adding a false bottom. Any thoughts?

I don't think i've added mine here yet

Basil's faun setup, he was in there until he was nearly a year old.

And his viv, he's been in for a couple of months. It is about 3.5x2x2.5ft (self-build), so will hopefully do him for life. We also built a matching unit for underneath which you can just see in the pic, perfect storage space for all snakey bits and pieces. He is always out exploring now and loves watching me (viv is in my bedroom), nosey!

Luna's RUB, 35L. She was only in there for about 3 months as I didn't like having to keep my room temp really high to give a good ambient temp, as she only had a heat mat in there.

She is now in a viv too, moved in a couple of weeks ago. It is quite a lot smaller than Basil's, it is a vivexotic reptistax, was on sale so I went for it. Hopefully it will last her a couple of years and saves me lots of money on heating bills! She is still pretty shy but slowly seems to be getting braver, I keep seeing her lying across the top of the straw box. She is eating fine also so I think she is settling in.

Both are heated by ceramic lamps, guarded of course, i'm using habistat pulse stats to regulate them. I've also changed to repticard for the substrate, They both seem to like it, Basil burrows just as much as he did in aspen, and it is so much cheaper.

Wonderful set-ups . You've both had such original ideas.

It's very interesting seeing the 'shelves' in your snakes RUBs Nexivred. I know how much my snakes like to climb and it offers yours that extra space having another level.

I love the little straw house Jenjen and the bamboo.

I can't help you I'm afraid Charles. It would be better if you made your own thread in the Corn Snake: General Keeping Information section. I'm sure there will be others who can advise you on how to go about replicating the Monkfield set-up in Rosie's final viv.

Thanks!

I put a shelf in Lunas RUB, she kept sitting around the rim of the lid then falling off in the middle of the night lol. I really like having the straw boxes, they both use them to lie on and in, and they are great as a substrate-free feeding platform also
