Reply author: Welshlamb Nice Set-Ups. I just finished installing LED strip I was advised to do by someone on here. I think it looks great.
Reply author: katy It's looking good, I think I might buy some LED lights for my big viv now lol
Reply author: kev 5 the lights do look good
Reply author: Moppet I like the use of plants and the rope for climbing I'll be borrowing those ideas when Apollo is finally big enough for a big boy viv...
Reply author: Donnie Here's my 3 vivs
Reply author: Welshlamb
quote: Impressive. Nice bamboo. Did you buy or made ?
Reply author: Donnie The vivs or the bamboo?
Reply author: Welshlamb Bamboo
Reply author: Welshlamb Just out of interest, I'll probably realise after you explained and will look like a right doughnut what does the numbers mean on your sig
Reply author: Donnie Got a six foot length of the bamboo and some manila rope from B & Q, cut it to size and tied it together. The bamboo was less than a tenner and I think 50 foot of rope was about £8
Reply author: Donnie The first number means how many males, the second number is for females and the 3rd number is unsexed. So for example if you saw 2.3.1 corns it means you have 2 males, 3 females and 1 unknown sex.
Reply author: Welshlamb Thank you

Reply author: Welshlamb My updated Viv, Thank you for all the ideas
Reply author: Ell Very nice! Love the leaves!
Reply author: marc_sg This was my tv cabinate conversion.
Reply author: Welshlamb
quote: They are stickers meant for a wheelie bin. Bought them for 1.00 in home bargains. Works out much cheaper than the ones they sell at pet shops. Loving everyone's varied set ups. Nice conversion of tv cabinet
Reply author: chris25 how do you attach the ropes and fake plants?I haven't got ropes yet but think they look awesome so will add some.I have fake plants and use the sucker which comes with them but found they kept falling off.I then decided to use silicon to attach them but they still fell off after a few months leaving a nice circle of silicon on the back, which is a right pain to get off.guessing they came off as they didn't hold the weight of the snake... Any tips and tricks would be greatly received :)
Reply author: Welshlamb Hi the leaves in my viv are just transfers. You just stick them on like stickers. Bought them in home bargains for 1.99 and are meant for wheelie bins. Easy to clean and gives a good effect.
Reply author: tk72 just put a home made viv up for free on the herp equiptment section if anyone needs a spare or can do it up.

quote: It's just normal rope. I used three pieces and braided them together to make one thick piece. Then put a nail in each end. Cost about £4.00 from bandq for 5 meters of it. I did not treat the rope. But have had no problems. Good luck really gives a good effect and George loves it
Reply author: rubi thank you muchly i shall definatly be off to bnq this week then :) and with that amount should have enough to put in viv setting up for beardies..ty :)
Reply author: tk72 just set up Colas new RUB as she was getting to big for her faunarium.
Reply author: Welshlamb Nice rubs. Thanks for the info on then plants in desperate need of finding somewhere that sells them for reasonable price.
Reply author: tk72 yeah the plants are really cheap and in different colours, and the wood is the same price no matter how big or small the piece is.
Reply author: smart bunny Hmmm, didn't realise DM did the wood as well... guess where I'm going back to tomorrow lol
Reply author: viraleye Here is a pic of our newly completed mini viv stack;
Reply author: Welshlamb Wow since I started this thread there has been a massive but great variation in vivs and rub setups.
Reply author: Welshlamb I have now completed my vivarium decor, I have changed the substrate to a grass looking mat (Which I intend to wash as and when, also very comfy and heat mat works well. Also allows burrowing, but much easier to see George than when in aspen shavings).
Reply author: Kadance I've got so many ideas for my snake now, thanks guys!
Reply author: Welshlamb
quote: You can get the tree in Ikea, it will be in some kind of pot. The only problem is it won't stand up unless something is supporting it. I use the rope and the logs and wedge them in between. I suppose you could keep it in the plant pot and it would work just fine. Good luck let me know how you get on
Reply author: Isoldael Here's my "big" viv:
Reply author: Welshlamb This is my Vivarium at its present state. Still has one more Hide to go into it that I made.
Reply author: Welshlamb Isoldael your logs / hides are amazing v.jealous!
Reply author: Isoldael Wow, very impressive, Welsh, I love how full it is! But yea... I can imagine not looking forward to cleaning all that xD
Reply author: lupi lou liking the vivs, they look fab. Welsh you deffo going to have fun cleaning that out!!
Reply author: Welshlamb Yep. Hopefully the plants will be easy to clean. F10 spray them should do the trick?
Reply author: lupi lou would have thought that would be fine
Reply author: Razee I love the idea with the ropes, and also Isoldael's half buried log hides - it gives the viv various levels...
Reply author: Thorne Walker Wow Welsh.. it's really busy.. esp with the sides and back done up.
Reply author: Welshlamb
quote: I've never seen him so active. He's loving the cool side up in the vines and flowers. Although he's got plenty of other spots. With the pooh question, that is going to be a challenge. I think I will just have to sniff my way around. He usually goes in the same spot, but will update you on that.
Reply author: Red123 Here are a few pics of my vivs.
Reply author: Lozzy Love those pictures Red, if only my OH would let me extend my collection that much!!!
Reply author: Welshlamb Wow! One hell of a collection. Lucky snakes
Reply author: awlred Wow! Some impressive set ups from you folks.
Reply author: Welshlamb Nice. Do the led change colour based on the temperature in the vivarium? Sorry if I sound daft
Reply author: awlred No. It would be awesome, but beyond my technical expertise. I can hack some wires and switches together, but a set up like that would, most likely, beyond my capabilities.
Reply author: Welshlamb
quote: Never say never. I know ikea sell a multi colour led kit but I think it's around 30.00 and for what It does IMO isn't worth it. My next mission is building a custom viv for George to spend his adulthood in
Reply author: Donnie I have the multi coloured Ikea LED's and I quite often use a diffferent colour (mainly red, blue or white) to light up the vivs. I have all 3 of mine wired up to the same switch so they are always displaying the same colour.
Reply author: Welshlamb The LEDs are cool. Bet your snakes have a rave in their vivarium.
Reply author: Simmy_82 Here is a decoration that i wouldnt recommend...
Reply author: Red123 Someone looks like they have been eating all the mice instead of Lilith lol.
Reply author: Simmy_82 Yes. She is a tad overweight (1kg), and currently on a diet. Its Mrs Simmy's fault!
Reply author: madmartyn
quote: where did you get the grass type mat from?
Reply author: jovamabob This is my sub-adults at the moment. He's in need of a bigger one very soon so my younger one will go in here, and Sebby will get his own little 'DIY' viv :D
Reply author: Welshlamb I bought the mat in ikea for £10.00 then cut to size. You will need Velcro and a glue gun if your planning on putting inside the vivarium. Good luck
Reply author: Welshlamb I have planned my next vivarium, to match my existing furniture. Sizes will be 3' x 2' x 2' This is the shelving unit, but I have it turned on its side. http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/50103086/ Any help on this one would be appreciated?
Reply author: Donnie Is there a piece of Ikea furniture that matches and is the right size that you can convert into a viv?
Reply author: Thorne Walker Well... Over here you can get the same birch veneer from Home Depot..
Reply author: Welshlamb
quote: No home depot in Uk. Looked for matching, but nothing is near the same size. I think I may have found the soloution? Maple is close to the birch veneer?
Reply author: Kadance Where are all these nice wooden Vivs from?!
Reply author: Welshlamb You can get them anywhere online. I got mine at swell reptiles, really quick and helpful.
Reply author: ScalySituation oh Red, i am majorley jelous! what size vivs are they?
Reply author: Emmzi These are my setups ( there isn't any water in the hatchlings bowls because I haven't got them just yet and Dakotas bowl had just been cleaned and I was about to do his daily water change :) )
Reply author: Welshlamb Nice looking vivarium set up there
Reply author: Red123
quote: The corns are all in 3ft x 18" vivs. Bryan has moved into a 30" x 15" until he is a little older. The two leos both have 3ft x 18" viv each as do one of the skinks and the second skink is slumming it out in a 3ft x 2ft lol. Oh and Berts exo terra is a 2ft x 18" x 2ft.
Reply author: Emmzi Thank you :D Dakota is loving it :)

quote:where is the rock backing from?, that to me is what makes yours stand out. Beautiful set up, I can only hope mine will look as good when I start getting my bits & Bob's for it

Reply author: Drexel Hi all, vivs looking topper. (gonna nick the rope trick :-) ) Quick question, i've been up Hamsterly forest today and got some stones to make hides and some drift wood to set in to Basils new viv set up (pics on way) washed the stones in water but should i bleach or sterile with something else?
Reply author: Charles This is Rosie's set up in her new 24 inch Monkfield. I found the herb pot for under £2 in a local garden centre. She doesn't make much use of it yet but I thought it might make a good hide when she is bigger.
Reply author: Criminal Nails It looks very nice! I love the pot, and I guess she'll love it too when she'll grow up! The size of the water bowl seems a little small to me though...
Reply author: Charles True, I will upgrade it soon. Having said that I have never seen it empty. I am sure more water evaporates out of it than Rosie drinks.
Reply author: ScalySituation this might be true, but she might want a bath next time shes in blue :)
Reply author: Welshlamb I have updated my Vivarium as George is growing fast. I decided on doing a custom project. This is my Vivarium I built as a DIY project to fit in with existing furniture. Its approx 5FT. The Finished Product Inside Vivarium Pan View
Reply author: lupi lou looking good
Reply author: carmil07 That looks fab Welshlamb well done.
Reply author: Welshlamb
Reply author: kevwdc Where abouts did you buy rhe threw vivs that arw staxked on each other and also did they come fitted with the locks
Reply author: Welshlamb
quote: Hello, you may have to contact 'Donnie' directly for a response. But I'm assuming that the vivarium you have asked about are 3 seperate vivarium a stacked on top of eachother. To me they look like the older viv exotic range and are 3FT. In most cases the locks don't come with them. You can get them on eBay or online reptile shops. It's always a good idea to check the local reptile shop, if your in a rush.
Reply author: Donnie
quote: If it is my vivs you are asking about kevwdc then Welshlamb is 100% correct . They are the lx36 vivs just stacked on each other and the locks were bought separately. I have changed them now for some custom made ones that match my 4x2x2's but it looks very similar.
Reply author: kevwdc Ok thanks for all your help. Im not in no hurry my corn is only 7 months old at the moment. I am just thinking for the future for when he turns about 1. He is a male and I was thinking in getting two females.
Reply author: Welshlamb
quote: I think it will be fine as long as they don't share same vivarium. I have corn (unknown sex) and cali king (female) in vivs next to eachother. Had no problems, as of yet.
Reply author: kevwdc ok thanks for the help.
Reply author: carmil07 looking fab Welshlamb
Reply author: Welshlamb
quote: Cheers
Reply author: carmil07 Not a viv but Ruby's Faun
Reply author: lupi lou nice add on welshlamb it looks great, rubys faun looks good too carmil07
Reply author: Welshlamb Wow lupi, the loving the LEDs. Wish I'd gone for the multi coloured ones now. Bet Junx is a happy snake now.
Reply author: lupi lou he loves it, I can't count the times that I've found him up in the ivy! My LED's were a present but I have to admit I love that I can change the color of them. Eventually once I make up my mind I'll be having a background in the viv's as well
Reply author: kev 5 looks really good
Reply author: andria2013 this was the setup for Robin and Albion when I first got them, only I added toilett rolls and roll off lino i got for one of the rooms.and sum more things was pretty basic. they take turns normally inside it under plant but today decided to curl up inside together im not happy but until monday nothing I can do . Ive got extra's but will add it all when I get new viv and I will make both vivs nice ..
Reply author: andria2013 think I might steal sum of these designs and mix it up abit to creae Albions new viv .
Reply author: Kellog You did so well making their old viv better than it was Andria . I can't wait to see what both vivs look like when you've finished with them. It might be a good idea to split the hides between each viv and also put some of the substrate from the old viv in the new one, so Albion has some of the old smells and will hopefully settle in better.
Reply author: andria2013 yh im gunna move the cardboard roll in corner into Albions. as Albion is always in it . so thought wud make him abit more comfortable. imdoing Robins too same time so .thought albion was the better candidate for the new viv since he smaller and he the 1 who likes to try escape thro that hole where light is , thats how he must have got burnt before at previous owners .
Reply author: andria2013 thats why I fed them today knowing I have like 2 days until most of the things come so gives them time to settle before the move.
Reply author: Kellog You've done it the right way round Andria, feeding them while they are still settled and then moving them once they can be handled. I would suggest, if you take longer than expected to get it ready, that you keep them together until after the next feed. Don't change them and then feed them the same day or even the next....they'll both need time to adjust.
Reply author: andria2013 yeh thats why I thought they not due to be fed until next week now . so IF i can get him in new viv by maybe friday- saturday then got about 3 days to settle before feeding again .
Reply author: cornelious Anyone know of any good led light strips for Viv, want to make it look good at night :)

Reply author: Redware Here is Willow's Set up. It's not mind blowing but she seems happy in it!
Reply author: Kellog It's absolutely perfect for her Redware , it's exactly what she needs. The general rule we go by for knowing when a snake needs to move to a bigger home is when their length equals the length plus width of the home they are in. I suspect Willow will be happy in her home for a bit longer .
Reply author: Welshlamb Lovely setups. Keep em coming
Reply author: andria2013 Albions viv
Reply author: Kellog You've done a great job with both vivs Andria . I do like the rope in them....and know the snakes do too.
Reply author: andria2013 ty ty . yup they sure do . x
Reply author: andria2013 well I changed the hides side nd I aint getn albion bk out of there now lol . must be the side he chose when robin and albion were together.
Reply author: ScaryVonHayleystine This was Mo's set up before the clean out this month. Each time i clean out i rearange the lay out so she has new things to explore ^^
Reply author: Kellog Glad you've worked out which it is Andria .
Reply author: ScaryVonHayleystine Sorry Kellog its just a facebook link. not sure why it wont work. As far as i know my page is public :s sorry
Reply author: NexivRed All of mine have just been given new houses Worked on them most of the evening to give them nice areas to explore, and they were received very well!
Reply author: Charles At the moment Rosie is in a 24" monkfield but I am starting to think about her final viv. One of the nice things about the monkfield is the glass panal underwhich you place the heatmat. I was wondering about replicating this in her main viv by modifying the base of the unit or adding a false bottom. Any thoughts?
Reply author: jenjen23 I don't think i've added mine here yet
Reply author: Kellog Wonderful set-ups . You've both had such original ideas.
Reply author: jenjen23
quote: Thanks! I put a shelf in Lunas RUB, she kept sitting around the rim of the lid then falling off in the middle of the night lol. I really like having the straw boxes, they both use them to lie on and in, and they are great as a substrate-free feeding platform also
Reply author: Kellog Where did you get the straw boxes from?
Reply author: Slinkey23 Went through all 7 pages and ive got to say theres some great vivs in there! Very inspirational
Reply author: ScaryVonHayleystine Lets try and re-upload this picture shall we -
Reply author: ScaryVonHayleystine Seems simple but as she's still a baby i keep it slightly minimal so she wont get lost!

Reply author: Welshlamb Wow! I'm truly impressed with the variations of layouts, hides and other decor. I cant believe how big this thread went since my initial starting post. Love seeing how spoilt all our Snakes are. Keep them coming people.
Reply author: gmac Blue light
Reply author: Charles Rosie's final viv. I added a shelf which she seems to love. There is now also some Ivy over the warm hide on the left as it was quite exposed.
Reply author: littlemisschocolover Charles are the plants in the pots real??? and if they are what are they ???
Reply author: littlemisschocolover my finished home made viv, he loves the corner hides,
